Toronto music lovers and would-be cinephiles, get ready to be serenaded and entertained by none other than the iconic Hollywood star, Jeff Goldblum. In a rare concert appearance, Goldblum will be gracing the stage at the Danforth Music Hall with his jazz band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, on Aug. 18.
Known for his roles in blockbuster films such as David Cronenberg’s The Fly, Jurassic Park, and Thor: Ragnarok, as well as his captivating performances on stage and television, Goldblum is apparently a man of many talents. Goldblum and the band released their debut album dubbed The Capitol Studios Sessions on Decca Records in 2018.
The band includes an exceptional lineup of musicians, including John Storie on guitar, Alex Frank on bass, Joe Bagg on organ, James King and Scott Gilman on saxophones, and Kenny Elliott on drums.
Given who we are talking about, it’s no surprise that Goldblum’s concerts are more than just musical performances. Audiences should be prepared for impromptu conversations, trivia questions, and perhaps even a surprise or two.
Adding to the excitement, the talented vocalist Gina Saputo will join Goldblum and the band on stage, lending her beautiful voice to the mix.
Goldblum’s second album, I Shouldn’t be Telling You This, released in 2019, features guest vocalists such as Fiona Apple, Miley Cyrus, and Gregory Porter.
The concert is in support of the band’s new album Plays Well With Others, which was released on Decca Records earlier this year. It’s their third record with Decca, and each one has been a unique musical journey.
