Kensington is full of cute and kitschy cafés and Fika is making a name for itself amongst them. The little blue house is full of Nordic charm with a cosy reading nook where you can sit back and immerse yourself in a new and literary world. Fika is becoming a prominent part of Kensington’s culinary scene — keeping things classic with its take on Denmark’s most recognizable sandwich, the smørrebrød. Slices of smoked salmon play the lead role. They’re folded over a piece of caraway rye bread, baked fresh daily over at Splendido, the more polished sibling to Fika. Pickled cukes and curls of pickled red onion dot the face, along with radish, chives and swirls of crème fraîche. Eat on the charming back patio as a late afternoon pick-me-up.
