Ariana Grande just announced her new 2026 tour but Toronto isn’t even on the list

Toronto Ariana Grande fans, brace yourselves: the pop star-turned-actor just announced her Eternal Sunshine 2026 tour, but none of the 10 cities included on the list are Toronto.

The superstar shared an Instagram post on Thursday with the details, captioning it, “See you next year”. Unfortunately for fans in Toronto, the only way that will happen is if they’re willing to make the trek to Montreal — the only Canadian city featured on the tour.

The Eternal Sunshine 2026 tour will be Grande’s first in seven years, and for good reason. The American singer has been a little busy these past few years starring in a film you just might have heard of: Broadway sensation-turned-blockbuster hit, Wicked.

Grande made headlines in 2024 when she explained that acting, over music, felt like “home right now.”

“I feel so grateful to the acting, and I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see it coming anytime soon. I think the next few years, hopefully we’ll be exploring different forms of art,” she told Variety.

Her words had Arianators panicking that she might be putting down the mic for a long while, so much so that the star took to Instagram in July to reassure fans that wasn’t the case. “Very silly of you all to assume that just because i have my hands full with many things that i plan to abandon singing & music,” she wrote in the caption, referring to music as her “lifeline” and noting that she’s working on finding a balance between all her endeavours. “So i’m working on a plan to sing for you all next year. Even if it’s just for a little.”

And now she’s making good on her promise. Grande was busy promoting Wicked ahead of its 2024 premiere, and she’s currently ramping up for the promotion of the second part, Wicked: For Good — premiering Nov. 21, 2025. That means her schedule will finally be clearing up just in time for the kick off to her Eternal Sunshine tour, which is set to begin on June 6, 2026 in Oakland, California.

Toronto fans don’t need to despair just yet — with star power of her magnitude and a tour of this size, it’s possible Grande will be releasing another wave of dates that just might include this city on the list.

If you don’t want to wait, you can book a plane, train or take a road trip to Montreal to see her next year; Grande will be performing two shows, July 28 and 30, in Canada.

More Degrassi news: Reboot rumours and a new trailer ahead of TIFF

Drake from new Degrassi documentary 'Whatever It Takes'

Fresh on the heels of a Drake-inspired reboot, one of the most iconic TV franchises in Canadian history is making its way to TIFF and a new trailer has just been released.

WildBrain and Peacock Alley Entertainment unveiled the official trailer for Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, which is a new feature-length documentary exploring the legacy and impact of the iconic TV franchise. The film will make its world premiere on at TIFF on Sept. 13.

Directed by Lisa Rideout (Sex with Sue, This Is Pop), the documentary explores the Toronto-set and groundbreaking teen drama that became a cultural touchstone over four decades. From its early days in the 1980s with the Zit Remedy — Joey, Snake and Wheels — through to its 21st-century offshoots, Degrassi: Whatever It Takes shows the stories behind the scenes, including the inevitable tensions, sacrifices, and the show’s approach to tackling taboo topics.

Shenae Grimes-Beech
Shenae Grimes-Beech

The documentary features appearances from creators, cast, and fans. Among those interviewed are Degrassi co-creator Linda Schuyler, executive producer Stephen Stohn, and a wide array of cast members from different eras, including Degrassi’s most famous alum Aubrey Drake Graham as well as Stefan Brogren, Shenae Grimes-Beech, Miriam McDonald, Shane Kippel, Amanda Stepto, and Jordan Todosey. Filmmaker Kevin Smith, a longtime superfan, also appears.

Degrassi changed the landscape of television with real, unvarnished storytelling and did it unapologetically from a teenage perspective,” Rideout said. “I was inspired by how fearless the series was in tackling issues that others wouldn’t touch. This documentary celebrates the iconic Canadian franchise while revealing the impact it had on the people who made it and the audiences who loved it.”

The documentary comes at a time when it’s been rumoured that Drake and his creative team are planning on moving ahead with a new Degrassi series. The rumours appeared to be confirmed at an event featuring former Degrassi stars a couple days ago (see clip above).

If the rumours are true, TIFF would be the ideal opportunity to break the news.

There’s a giant cranberry festival taking place in Muskoka this fall

Bala Cranberry Festival
Bala Cranberry Festival

We still have a few more weeks of summer, but it’s not too early to take a peek at the upcoming fall festivals. This October, visit the charming little hamlet of Bala, known to locals as the “Cranberry Capital of Ontario”, as it’s home to some enviable cranberry farms!

For the past 40+ years, the town has been hosting one of Canada’s largest cranberry celebrations. Each year, the Bala Cranberry Festival is held the weekend after Thanksgiving, and this year’s festival once again promises tons of wholesome harvest activities.

Live entertainers and buskers will take over the streets in a sort of fall-fair vibe that’s both entertaining and charming (so bring the whole family!)

Stroll along Maple Ave and explore hundreds of artisan stalls, selling everything from handmade Muskoka and Canadian products to fresh Ontario cranberries and epicurean treats, like cranberry wine and candied berries. Visit more local merchants along Bala Falls Rd and enjoy a stunning view of the waterfalls at Margaret Burgess Park. Munch on tasty cranberry crepes from Trinity All Saints Anglican Church (a long-time tradition in Bala). Stroll across the street and enjoy some (non-cranberry-based but still delicious) homemade chilli at the Bala United Church!

Catch the Duck Races on Saturday, hosted by the Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Rotary Club. This takes place where Lake Muskoka flows into the Moon River at the waterfalls (so, the perfect spot to enjoy the races while shopping and mingling with local store merchants).

And there’s tons of activities at the Muskoka Farm & Winery, including wagon tours, wine tastings, weekend-long harvesting and even a cranberry plunge (yup, you’ll get to wade into a sea of floating cranberries and take pictures of your cranberry love!)

Before you head out, check out the Muskoka Cranberry Route. This trail boasts more than 30 stops that wind through historic streets and scenic back roads. Along the way, you can tour Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh, sip cranberry-infused craft beer and cider, and indulge in fresh-baked treats, all while experiencing the best of Muskoka’s culinary scene.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Single-day pass: Advance Online: $11.30
At the Gate: $15 | Kids 5 and up: $5; Fridays are FREE for kids! Three-day weekend pass: Advance Online: $16.95 | At the Gate: $20.00 | Kids 5 and up: $8. All prices include HST.

Keep in mind that admission to special marsh activities (wagon tours, the cranberry plunge, tastings) requires separate booking at Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery.

The 2025 Bala Cranberry Festival takes place on Maple Ave, in the Bala Arena and the Bala Community Centre, all accessed from Maple Ave. Dates: Fri, Oct 17 (10 am to 5 pm), Sat, Oct 18 (9 am-6 pm), and Sun, Oct 19  (9 am-3 pm).

Oh, and before the summer ends, check out these nine unique Ontario festivals taking place this September!

Toronto stylist to the stars launches new brand that turns old jeans into high fashion

Toronto stylist Juliana Schiavinatto has spent her over a decade-long career dressing top names including Cindy Crawford, Demi Lovato, Kylie Jenner, Miranda Kerr, Gigi Hadid and Sophie Turner for the covers of Elle Canada. Now, the stylist to the stars is taking a shot at something new: designing. Launched in 2023, Re-Pull isn’t like every other new fashion label out there — each product is technically one of one, because Schiavinatto and her team repurposes old denim and workwear to craft each piece.

“Working as a stylist for so many years, working on photo shoots and commercial clients, lookbooks, campaigns; I just see a huge amount of waste in product. We work in an industry where we ship things internationally all the time. Samples are sometimes disposed of ways that are not really pleasant to talk about,” Schiavinatto shares. “So [the concept for Re-Pull] has been on my mind for six years now.”

Over the years, the stylist built a small team, testing samples with a technical designer and small, local production manufacturers. The result was three original styles — a shirt, jeans and a jacket. “I wanted something simple and wearable, but with a quirk; something that feels a little different.”

Juliana’s Toronto shopping picks

Courtesy vspconsignment.com
  1. VSP Consignment: “This is a go-to for so many stylists, and it’s great that it’s all second-hand.”
  2. 100% Silk Shop: “They’re all about emerging, international designers, and they support slow, small batch production and handmade products.”
  3. WDLT117: “They feature a bunch of really fashion-forward designers and international brands.”
  4. Absolutely Fabrics: “The owner carries some really interesting labels; she’s really got her finger on the pulse of what’s interesting internationally. They operate a store and an event space; they have dinners with designers and do a  360-degree sort of operation. It’s really interesting.”

Re-Pull upcycles mostly from denim, workwear and suiting — which Schiavinatto says was partially out of practicality and partially inspired by her own style ethos. “I like utility in styling, I like workwear, so that was a natural fit for me and my brand. I’m drawn to power suits, shirts, menswear — and over the years, I saw there’s so much of that stuff out there, even just going to Value Village or Goodwill, you’re always going to find these items.”

That made sourcing the materials for her brand easier (Schiavinatto says they mostly pull from sorting warehouses and buy in bulk). “I call them the pillars of our type of sourcing — shirting, black suiting and denim — because we can always source it.”

The result is a tightly designed collection full of strong lines and architectural shapes, like a voluminous convertible tailored maxi dress featuring a layered mini skirt option made out of a backwards blazer, or a corset halter top made from layered denim waistbands.

re pull bag

The brand’s latest drop revolves almost entirely around denim, with stand-out items that include a patchwork denim bomber jacket and a textured mini bag.

For Schiavinatto, Re-Pull has been another opportunity for her to challenge herself in her career.

“I always say styling is a part of my blood; it informs a lot of choices I make. But I’ve kind of gotten comfortable in the job over the years, and this brand has helped make me uncomfortable again. I’m learning something new every day!”

It’s a feeling Schiavinatto previously got when she spearheaded a biannual arts and culture publication called Pulp Magazine that circulated internationally. “We were shooting couture collections in Paris for the magazine; we were shooting celebrities and distributing to 15 countries, all while making this magazine in Toronto. It kind of showed me, wow, anything is possible.”

Now, her goal with Re-Pull is to grow, “slowly and organically.”

“I don’t want to mass produce and change the ethos of what’s important to the brand, but I do want to make it more accessible in more places to more people,” she says.

If you love poutine (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), then you’ll want to circle Saturday, September 6 on your calendar. That’s when Smoke-A-Palooza 2025 returns to Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas Square) for what promises to be the wildest and most delicious street party Toronto has seen all year.

Presented by Smoke’s Poutinerie the event is a massive 12-hour celebration of everything poutine — and it’s totally free to attend. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the square will be buzzing with live music, jaw-dropping performances, and of course, delicious poutine eating all day long.

Smoke-a-Palooza | World Poutine Eating Championship | Smoke’s Poutinerie

The highlight of the event is the World Poutine Eating Championship (WPEC), the only competition of its kind sanctioned by Major League Eating. This year’s showdown features the legendary Joey Chestnut, defending his world record of consuming 28 pounds of poutine in just 10 minutes. Chestnut will compete against other top-ranked eaters including Geoffrey Esper, James Webb and Miki Sudo, the reigning number one female eater in the world.

The event will also honour Smoke’s founder, Ryan Smolkin, with the Ryan Smolkin Memorial CEO Challenge, where corporate executives face off in a quick-fire poutine eating contest — all to raise money for We Care, a charity supporting kids with disabilities attending accessible summer camps.

Live music from top tribute bands including Sheer Heart Attack (Queen tribute), 80s Gone Wild and Destroyer Canada (KISS tribute) will keep the party going. And if that’s not enough, prepare for circus acts and performers like Flexy-T, the contortionist from Canada’s Got Talent, a Guinness World Record-holding fire eater and other wild entertainment.

There will also be a beer tent and merchandise booth, with proceeds supporting We Care.

If you can’t make it to the square, no worries. The whole event will be livestreamed on Smoke’s Poutinerie’s YouTube and Twitch channels — plus live screenings at Smoke’s locations across Canada.

Bobby’s Burgers is coming to Canada. The restaurant brand, owned by professional chef and Food Network star Bobby Flay, just made a deal to open 65 restaurants across the country over the next several years, with its Canadian flagship location in Toronto.

Flay calls the move “a major milestone,” adding that The Falcon Capital Group, the brand’s Canadian business partner, brings proven expertise in brand development and retail franchising, making them the ideal group to bring his signature handcrafted burgers, fries and milkshakes to Canada.

“I look forward to working with the accomplished team at Falcon Capital and watching our brand grow across Canada,” Flay said in a statement.

Apparently, Chef Flay’s fav meal at Bobby’s Burgers is the Bacon Crunchburger, made with American cheese, potato chips and Bobby’s sauce. He pairs it with made-from-scratch buttermilk onion rings and a pistachio spoon-bending milkshake.

The Canadian expansion of the burger joint will be spearheaded by entrepreneur and franchise executive Jim Gormley, who’ll lead the initiative alongside the Falcon Capital Group.

“The quality and flavo[u]r of Bobby’s menu are unmatched, and we’re excited to bring this exceptional premium burger experience to Canadian consumers while also providing this unique franchise opportunity to Canadian entrepreneurs,” Gormley said in a statement. “We share Bobby Flay’s commitment to culinary excellence and operational support.”

We don’t have an official opening date as yet, but the group is currently exploring real estate options throughout the GTA (they’re especially focusing on spots within downtown Toronto for the flagship restaurant!)

Bobby’s Burgers has nine locations open in the US, with several more up for development, including the expansion into Canada. Their famous burgers are made with certified Angus beef, grilled medium or well done, and served on a brioche bun. Customers can also substitute a grilled chicken breast or veggie patty for most of their burgers.

You can read more about the expansion here, and be sure to keep an eye on Streets of Toronto for further updates!

Every Canadian designer that newly-engaged Taylor Swift has ever worn

Taylor Swift has (almost) broken the internet with her latest Instagram post — sharing the news that she and her Super Bowl-winning boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, are engaged.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the pop star captioned her post, sharing a series of photos from the proposal where the pair was seemingly in the middle of a forest surrounded by hundreds of flowers.

It’s shaping up to be a big year for Swift — 2025 is also the year she finally secured full ownership of her music masters and, on Oct. 3, she’ll be releasing her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.

While this may be an ultra-American union, Swift has showed her support for many a Canadian designer in the past. It could be the influence of one of Swift’s stylists — Toronto’s own Venetia Kidd. Want to dress like the newly-engaged singer-songwriter? Check out all the local fashion designers and brands she’s been spotted wearing in the past. Maybe these companies will play a role in her wedding wardrobe!

Mejuri

Toronto-based jewelry brand Mejuri got the Taylor Swift stamp of approval at an important event last year: the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Baltimore Ravens, where the team earned a spot in the Super Bowl. She sported a gold ring from Mejuri; named the Heirloom Ring, it’s a signet style made out of 14k solid gold with a few mineral stone options (Swift went with a garnet gem to match her red-heavy wardrobe and Chiefs attire). The ring has become a signature game day accessory for Swift, and fans scrambled to get their hands on the Taylor-approved ring. While the ring goes for a whopping $998, there are some more affordable options on the Toronto website featuring the same garnet stone, including a pair of gemstone huggies for $168 and a fun, Reputation era-style coil ring for $198.

Jenny Bird

Taylor Swift wore not one, not two but three items from Toronto jewelry designer Jenny Bird in her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video back in 2017 when she was kicking off her Reputation album cycle. She sported a gold choker with a tassel, a pair of long gold earrings and a thick silver choker at different points during the music video. While all three items aren’t for sale anymore on the site, Jenny Bird still has plenty of chic choker and earring options to go around.

UNTTLD

A Canadian designer for every era — most recently, with the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Swift sported a very striking dress in her music video for her lead single, “Fortnight.” The black Victorian-style gown she wore was designed by Simon Belanger and Jose Manuel Saint-Jacques, the duo behind Montreal brand UNTTLD. It appears the dress was the brand’s last project — their posts about the dress were their last ones on Instagram, and the atelier in Montreal is now closed. But UNTTLD can still be shopped in The Real Real and Poshmark, if you’re looking to complete your TTPD look.

Sheertex

Based out of Montreal, Sheertex has gone viral for its seemingly tear-proof tights — and Swift herself is a fan. She’s sported multiple pairs of tights from the brand while out and about (including a red pair while supporting her now-fiancé at a game this year), and seems to favour the patterned styles. This might be the cheapest way to dress like Taylor — these tights go for under $50, and are almost constantly on sale for $35 or less.

Vitaly

Taylor Swift is all about the Toronto jewelry, apparently — Vitaly is yet another Toronto-based jewelry brand that she’s worn, this time to a gala thrown by the organization Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes runs, the Mahomies Foundation. Known for their “genderless” jewelry made out of stainless steel, Swift opted for the “shimmer” necklace (perhaps a nod to one of her most popular lyrics?) from the brand. While the gold version she wore is currently sold out, the silver is still available — and will only set you back about $120.

Ellie Mae

When Toronto designer Ellie Mae Waters sent a few vintage Kansas City Chiefs pieces pulled from her brand’s, Ellie Mae Studios, vintage collection, she thought Swift might wear them around the house at most. But instead, the pop star sported the Chiefs sweatshirt at her Kelce’s football game, prompting a huge spike in visitors to the brand’s website as fans scrambled to buy their vintage from the same place Swift buys hers. It appears the brand’s Summerhill flagship recently closed, but their website is still running and all designs are currently on sale. They also still have a large vintage collection available online, if you want some vintage Chiefs merch of your own (and are willing to spend almost $600).

For Torontonians who are fans of vintage-style game shows, a live version is coming to the city this fall. Toronto is about to host its first Quiz Room, opening this September at 129 Spadina Ave. The immersive trivia experience takes place on a TV-inspired game show set, complete with voiceovers, laugh tracks, flashing lights, and the frantic pounding of buzzers as teams race to answer hilarious (and sometimes tricky) trivia questions!

“Our game is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of your background or expertise,” the Quiz Room website says. “You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how many questions you’ll know! All kinds of knowledge can come in handy, whether it’s recognizing celebrities, listing the ingredients for chocolate cake, or knowing Rihanna lyrics.”

Quiz Room launched in Montreal last year May and is already super popular with locals!

The experience offers three distinct formats:

  • The Original Quiz: Packed with general knowledge and pop culture, from completing movie lines to guessing music groups, and identifying personalities in photos. Sessions last between 1 to 1.5 hours for an action-packed trivia adventure.
  • The Music Quiz: Perfect for music buffs. Whether you’re into rap, pop, rock, or oldies (or maybe you’re a secret shower singer?), there’s something for everyone! Buzz in to name that song, hit the right note or even burst into song yourself.
  • Quiz Room Kids: This is more of a family-friendly option designed for kids ages 8-12. They’ll explore fun topics like cartoons, superheroes, gaming and songs (there’s even an option to create a personalized quiz!)

Each room hosts 4 to 18 players, and participants can play for up to 1.5 hours (2 or 3 games). The process is simple: Book online (or request a quote for larger groups, think bachelor parties, birthday parties, family reunions or team-building events) and create an online player profile. Show up 10 minutes early, meet your Quiz Master and get ready to play. After the games, feel free to debrief with a drink and review your scorecard. If you win, you’ll not only have bragging rights, you’ll walk away with a free spot and be back to play again!

Price per player: Groups of 4-6 players: $32 (2 games), $44 (3 games) | Groups of 7–12 players: $30 (2 games), $42 (3 games) | Groups of 13–72 players: $27 (2 games), $39 (3 games). Add-on options: Extra 3rd game (on site, +30 min): $12 per person | 10 custom questions: $60 per group.
